My October was spent in a stressful mess, having me in and out of town throughout the month. I put blogging aside, but did continue to keep my needles at least somewhat busy.
I’ve been knitting for around 4 years now. I’ve been to only two yarn stores, my LYS and one that’s 30 minutes away. During the craziness that was October, I was able to visit two more.
First, before returning home from Pigeon Forge, we visited Gatlinburg to walk around the shops. I did a search and found The Smokey Mountain Spinnery, an adorable little shop with some of the nicest shop owners I have ever met.
I had not planned on purchasing anything, but my future mother-in-law let me pick up a skein of yarn for an early birthday present.
I picked this gorgeous sock yarn, Paca Peds HT in Mermaids Go Walking. I did a search for mermaid themed sock patterns but was unable to find one that really struck me. I stuck with a vanilla pattern to really show off the gorgeous colors. I’ll make another post about that, soon.
I was also able to visit Yarn Frenzy located in my future mother-in-law’s town. I really enjoyed the variety of the store and can’t wait to visit again.
I picked up a few skeins while there:
Cascade 220 in Chocolate.
Cascade 220 in Natural.
Universal Yarns Worsted Tapestry Thread in Riverbed.
The Cascade yarns will be used in a colorwork hat I’ve been commissioned to make. The other was purchased by my future mother-in-law because she wanted a hat. I already knit that up, post coming this Friday!
I wonder if I can sneak in another new yarn shop before the year is out….
