This weekend, I made a post asking for help in deciding what pattern to make with some yarn I recenetly purchased. With the help of my readers, I had decided on a pattern, the Windsor hat. I went to Ravelry to read the project information and immediately changed my mind. I have been looking for a lovely scallop hat for months now. I was incredibly happy to see this pattern in the Featured Pattern section: Petoncle by Alexandra Tinsley.

Taken from the Petoncle Ravelry page.
I have seen Alex’s name in around the knitting world but had never looked into her patterns before. Seeing this, though, I had to look for more. I saw that this hat was part of a two pattern e-book called The Scallop Scissors and I purchased it immediately. Though Petoncle was the hat that led me to this change, I ended up going with the other hat in the pattern book called Varia.

Taken from the Varia Ravelry page.
I think I made the right decision. Both hats are beautiful and I cannot wait to knit a hat in more neutral tones. I see this being my go-to hat for gift knitting.
I am loving these colors together. And I think the scallop effect is just lovely. The pattern is wonderfully written and I highly recommend it.
Working with these two colors was so much fun! They are both so bright and vibrant and made me just extremely happy. The yarn is Ella Rae Lace Merino Worsted and it is just wonderful to knit with. There is a subtle tonal effect that just adds to the beauty of the yarn.
I am incredibly happy with this yarn and this pattern. The pattern is incredibly quick. I started the hat on Sunday…and finished it yesterday. I took these pictures on Monday because I knew that I would be done before WIP Wednesday but I really wanted to make a post about it.
Be on the lookout Friday for finished pictures! I love this hat and I will be wearing it all the time.

I cannot say enough about the greatness that is this pattern. These colors make me so happy. I’m about to leave the house even though I don’t want to, but knowing I get to wear this hat makes it better haha =]

I love hats that pop with color like this one, for some reason they always make me smile. Great job and can’t wait to see the finished project.

Knitting has really helped me try out new colors and color combinations. I’m a girl who dresses mostly in black and grey, so I use knitting accessories to try to throw in some color =]
I love this hat so much. I will hopefully be able to get some pictures before tomorrow so I can make a post. May have to do it this weekend, though, and just not worry about FO Friday =]

Beautiful patterns and your hat looks wonderful! “I love this hat and I will be wearing it all the time.” Lol. No apologies. I love that.

Haha, it is so bright that it is taking me a while to get used to. It’s so much fun, though!!
Thank you =]=]

Did you ever get to wear this a few times? I have some Ella Rae yarn in my stash that’s beautiful, but I’ve hesitated to use it. I forget which kind it is, but I just feel like it’s going to shed and pill something crazy. I’m terrified that I’ll spend half my life knitting something fancy and then realize I can’t wear it!

Hello! I have worn the hat a few times and I have not noticed any pilling or anything of the sort. I enjoy the yarn very much and plan on knitting with it again.
