I have been knitting, of course I have been. I haven’t completed anything, to my knowledge, recently but…I have been knitting. Too busy with work, getting ready to move, and life things. I keep working on projects but hopping from one to another, not committed to one right now. At least my WIPs are getting a workout.
I have been adding to my stash, though. Which isn’t necessarily a good thing but it makes my brain happy, so I continue to do it. I’ve taken pictures of my recent enhancements for Ravelry (I’ve decided to start making sure I have everything documented and am doing that by photographing the new stuff now, with the intentions of photographing my older stash once we move; hopefully this will actually occur). Since I have no completed knits to discuss, I thought I’d show off some yarn! I’ll do a WIP post soon, maybe later this week (whoa…two posts in one week? Can I do it?).
This is my first skein of madelinetosh, purchased when my LYS was going out of business (have I mentioned there is a new LYS?? YAY!). I’m not normally drawn to these colors but the skein I passed on but decided to get a couple of days later was, of course, gone. I carried this around the store with me and the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. It keeps telling me it wishes to be a cabled hat. I’m someone who loves the looks of cables but isn’t fond of knitting them. I haven’t done it in a while, though, so it might be a fun adventure to partake in.
When I bought the madelinetosh, I also purchased two skeins of Malabrigo Rios. The day I went, they were out of the sock yarn of course but I wanted some Malabrigo to take home. There weren’t a lot of options but I kept going back to this. I have no clue what I will make with it…maybe mittens? I haven’t looked through ravelry yet for ideas. But I am excited to work on it in the future.
When I attended the grand opening of my new LYS, I knew I wanted to purchase something, but I wasn’t sure what. The new store is super cute, will be a lot closer to me once I move and features some lovely yarns. I kept going back to the Noro. Ever since I made a friend his Hurricane Hat, I have been wanting to make my own hat in Noro. This is currently on my needles, being knit into a Phoncible by Alexandra Tinsley.
This may be my most favorite yarn ever. There is something about this that is just…amazing to me. This was from the three month Northbound Knitting yarn club I joined and out of the three, it was definitely my favorite. I have decided it will become a Pogona by Stephen West and cannot wait to cast on. Must finish a few other things first, of course.
Another lovely skein from Northbound Knitting (I’ll go ahead and warn you, I have a few more of Lisa’s wonderful yarns to show you). This one is destined to become Askew by Lisa Mutch.
Another skein from the yarn club, this is a lovely, deep brown color that I do not have a great picture of. Apologies! This will become socks for the boyfriend, I do believe!
I actually have three skeins of this, the first being almost completely used up for a test knit I was doing for Lisa Mutch, for her new shawl Nazar. Lisa released her pattern this week and I am still working on the last stripe, unfortunately. I will have pictures soon and discuss the pattern then. It’s a wonderful, fun pattern and..it’s free!
I just adore this colorway. I have two skeins of it and plan to knit it up into the Honey Cowl by Madelinetosh. I had considered using the madelintosh yarn from earlier in this post for the pattern, but I think I would wear the cowl more knit up with this yarn that I would the other.
Last but not least is the gorgeous skein of On The Round yarn I purchased last week and received in the mail yesterday. I had decided to not buy anymore yarn for a little while since we are about to start moving but I just could not pass this up. Rachel has some lovely colorways at her shop and I plan to purchase more from her in the future. This, I think, will become the Cirriform by Lisa Mutch. While I think this would make amazing socks, I really want to show off this yarn more, thus a shawl.
There’s my stash enhancement from the past couple of months. I hopefully will be able to get some pictures of my WIPs and update you all on my knitting, too, in the hopes of proving that I do things other than just purchase yarn and daydream about knitting with it.
